We’re almost into the second quarter of the new year and you should be close to hitting some goals you set for the first quarter. Have you found you’ve strayed from your blogging goals? Or maybe you got sidetracked and just need a kick in the right direction again.
These tips will help you get back on track.
- Write it down. I hope you wrote your goals down for this year. If not, then there’s why you are hitting your goals. But biz and life may have changed. Make sure your goals are attainable and rewrite any that need tweaking.
- Plan for success. It’s been said that if you fail to plan you plan to fail. It’s true. Start planning your success by creating a clear outline of what you would like to achieve on a day-to-day basis. This step, along with a clear list of goals, will help you really narrow in on what you’re working towards. There’s no income to be made if you are flying by the seat of your pants. Believe me, if there was I would know. There were many times I didn’t plan and just twirled around in circles not really doing much of anything and wasting a lot of time.
- Set up a dedicated space. Laptops are the bomb. It’s all I’ve owned for years now. So portable. I can be working while camping if I want. But, without a dedicated work area it’s easy to get side tracked and spend too much time looking for things. It may also help you set up a clear work routine. If you know that when you sit at that space it’s work time, you can crank out an hour or two at a time without the distractions. This has changed my daily productivity immensely. If you’re struggling to stay motivated and focused during work hours, check where you are working and what distractions are there.
- Create a goals board.Goal or vision boards can be very inspiring. This is simply a board that reminds you of all your important goals and desires. For example, you can print out your written goals and stick them to your goals board. You can then cut out items from a magazine or print visuals that represent those goals. If your goal is to move into your dream home, then cut out a picture of your dream home and place it on your goals board. You may also want to include pictures of your family and friends and other important reminders that will help you stay focused and inspired. Have fun with it and decorate the board however you choose – it is after all your goals board and should be unique to you. Then post it in your designated work area so it’s right in your face. Instant motivation.
Staying focused on your goals isn’t always easy. It’s the hard part about working for yourself. The more motivated you are the better that focus will get. Especially once you start seeing that bank account go up!
Are you motivated on your own or in need of a push or some organized chaos so you can get it all done?
Yes, I said organized chaos. That’s how I roll. Life tosses crap in the way constantly. My schedule has to stay flexible or I’ll go insane. I know others need it very structured so they don’t go insane. New snarky bloggers membership is coming on April 1st.
